AGILE CONFERENCES
Agile2024 | Agile Identity Crisis
Is Agile Dead? Shall we look for a new career or is there hope?
What’s the state of Agile? I know why you’re here, you’re thinking, “What’s going on with Agile these days? Is it dead, or is it making a grand comeback?” Shall we pack our bags and look for a new career or is there still some hope for Agile?
Today I’ll share the insights I picked up about the state of Agile and Agile Identity Crisis — let’s tackle the elephant in the room!
This year, I had the immense pleasure of not only attending but also speaking at the Agile2024 conference in Dallas, Texas! 🎤✨
My session was in the Agile Essentials track, a workshop on Facilitation — Become a Facilitation Masterchef! You can watch more about it in the video here and download the template I created for Miro from Miroverse!
Agile Alliance Conference
The Agile20XX conference, hosted annually by the Agile Alliance, is the crème de la crème of Agile events — a truly one-of-a-kind experience for anyone in the Agile community and also those wanting to join us.
Agile Alliance is a global non-profit membership organization founded on the Manifesto for Agile Software Development. The authors of the Manifesto called themselves Agile Alliance.

The elephant in the room
So, let’s tackle the elephant in the room — Is Agile dead?
This question has been making the rounds in Agile circles for a while, and it’s one that definitely sparks a lot of debate. Here I made a compilation of talks and debates around the topic of Agile identity crisis:
Battle Royale: Agile Identity Showdown
The Audacious Salon track was also on topic: Battle Royale: Agile Identity Showdown — It’s time for a verbal showdown as two dynamic debaters go head-to-head in a fierce debate on agile identity crisis — Matthew Barcomb & Melissa Boggs
If there was ever an elephant in the room about Agile’s current identity, it definitely got acknowledged.
The Cherry on Top: Keynote Panel on Reimagining Agile
The cherry on the cake of those talks was the Keynote Panel: Reimagining Agile where the reimagining of Agile took center stage. All those intense Agile Identity Crisis talks set the stage on Monday and Tuesday, leading up to this powerful discussion. Moderated by the insightful Ellen Grove, the panel featured some heavy hitters — Jim Highsmith, Jon Kern, Heidi Musser, and Sanjiv Augustine. And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, Alistair Cockburn swooped in as a last-minute surprise guest!
